EIDR
The Universal Media Identifier
Entertainment ID Registry (EIDR) is a global unique identifier system designed to identify a wide variety of audiovisual assets, such as movies, TV shows, and digital content. As a registration authority of the DOI (Digital Object Identifier Association,) EIDR IDs are persistent permanent identifiers that can be associated with specific pieces of media content, allowing for accurate tracking, management, and interoperability across different platforms and services.
EIDR is deeply committed to supporting the media and entertainment industry's evolving relationship with AI technology. As AI technology advances, we recognize the importance of maintaining ethical standards in content creation, ensuring transparency, and upholding the rights of the talented individuals who bring beloved content to life. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where technological growth is balanced with ethical responsibility. Our support for initiatives like the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) reflects our belief that consumers deserve to know the origins of the content they consume, distinguishing between AI-generated and natural content. Furthermore, as the ability to create digital replicas of human actors becomes more prevalent, we stand firmly behind the rights of those actors to trace, control, and protect their intellectual property, including their names, images, and likenesses. EIDR remains committed to supporting all content creators, regardless of size, as the legal landscape around AI continues to evolve.
