, also known as EVeryman, is a versatile actor, rapper, comedian, DJ, and proud union member of SAG-AFTRA, Actor's Equity Association, and A.S.C.A.P. Based in Los Angeles, he has appeared in various films, including appearances in the Oscar-winning "Get Out," and starred in the short film "Storyteller," a semifinalist at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival. He consented to be scanned to create a digital replica for a project that he can also use in future endeavors.

Evan allowed us to create a digital replica of him using . Then, we created a story for him and his future career moves.

Evan Shafran’s Hero’s Journey (Dramatization)

This imagined journey of Evan Shafran serves as a dramatization to illustrate the complexities surrounding the use of digital replicas of actors. In real life, Evan is a writer, DJ, rapper, comedian, actor, and SAG member/activist who was scanned by The Scan Truck to create a digital replica of his likeness.

In this fictionalized future, Evan’s career skyrockets. He wins a Best Actor Award, gaining widespread recognition for his performances, which leads him to venture into film production. His success and dedication to the arts then open a new chapter in his life as a U.S. Senator, where he champions the rights of artists and creators.

However, this fame comes at a price. Evan’s digital replica, now registered in the Human and Digital registry (HAND), is exploited in ways beyond his control. His likeness is used without permission in a popular video game, turning him into a virtual character. A fake endorsement ad appears, falsely associating him with a product. Even more troubling, an altered video clip surfaces in the news, distorting his words during a public speech.

This dramatized journey showcases both the exciting potential and the darker side of digital replicas, emphasizing the importance of standards and technology like that of HAND, EIDR, EZDRM, and Videntifier. It highlights the need for consent, control, and verification to protect actors from the misuse of their digital likeness in an increasingly digital world.
